Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Aug 27, 2012, sent to the company Sep 5, 2012, published by CPSC Sep 26, 2012

The product, in the report: Daily Luxuries Deluxe Sleep Set (eye mask and ear plugs)

I bought this Daily Luxuries Deluxe Sleep Set eye mask and ear plugs from Bed Bath and Beyond and used it on and off for a couple of weeks with no problem (perhaps once or twice a week). I then started increasing the time that I used it because I was sleeping in a brighter room, so I used it every night. I then started getting eye problems, with my vision being blurry and slightly painful. I probably foolishly continued using the product, thinking it might go away, but my eyes continued to get worse. After a few days I could hardly keep my eyes open because they stung so much.

Since stopping using the eye mask, my eyes have returned to normal (I hope), but I think this is very concerning. I think that the padded area at the bottom or perhaps something that is in the material (chemicals perhaps?) may be bothersome, or scratching the eye.

The product, in the report: sleep mask - front is suede and face side is polyester -had a very strong chemical smell.

Bought a Daily Luxuries Deluxe Sleep Set (sleep mask and earplugs) for Bed Bath and Beyond. The mask had a strong formaldehide smell to it - I used it during a 1 hour nap and upon taking if off my vision was Extremely unable to focus, as if babyoil was poured into my eyes - this reaction lasted for over 1 hour and was extremely disturbing and frightning - I also had a red rash around my eyes where the mask had touched my face. I don’t know what would have happened if it was worn over night for 8 hrs. Don’t want this to happen to anyone else. My vision is still not back to normal after 2 days.
