  1. Emergency room

Made Aug 25, 2021, sent to the company Aug 30, 2021, published by CPSC Sep 14, 2021

The product, in the report: Corestar Gloves UPC 7 39210 34361 3 Model Re-Order #: SF-3400L (written on box) Ordered through Amazon.com PRIME. Product is listed as “The Essential Goods Disposable Clear Vinyl Glove/Large Size/100 count/Non-Latex Power-Free Ultra Strong Non-sterile” for home, office, kitchen use. Described as puncture free and safe for use for those with latex and powder allergy. I have a latex allergy. Box states “MADE IN CHINA” There is a white sticker with barcode #X002HZKPL on the box. When I peeled the label back it revealed another barcode #39210 34361, Purchased on Amazon.com 12/24/2020. Used it for the first time 4/29/2021. Only had it on for about 1 hour doing light housekeeping/cleaning. When I removed the gloves, my hands were reddened where the the gloves were on. It continued over the next 12 hours to get redder, itchy and swollen. The redness and swelling progressed up to mid forearm on both arms. I had immediately washed my hands after taking off the gloves but there must have been some allergen present in the glove (latex?) that caused this severe allergic reaction. I ended up going to Urgent Care, placed on Triamcinolone and Clabetasol high steroid topicals, oral antihistamines, and underwent IV infusions of both [REDACTED] (steroid) and Diphenhydramine (antihistamine) to control the allergic reaction. I was also prescribed an epi-pen (to be used if I should go into anaphylactic shock) which cost me $118 not covered by my insurance. I was in pain from the acute swelling. Hands looked like I had boxing gloves on. I was also in emotional distress. I contacted Amazon.com and all they did was apologize and give me a $10 gift certificate with my next order for “any inconvenience” I experienced. I requested that they do more quality control of their products, as someone with an allergy to latex and glove powder like I do should not have to go through this. I suggested that they stop this vendor from claiming that the product is latex-free and powder-free as it obviously is not, which is false advertisement and could lead to possible death if the reaction is severe enough. As of this writing, August 25, 2021, the skin on my hands continue to slough off. My allergist and dermatologist both told me this may continue on for months as it was a severe allergic reaction. This has been going on since April 29, 2021.

I have latex allergy. Ordered “vinyl gloves” from Amazon.com which were advertised as latex-free, powder-free. When I used a pair for the first time, I developed redness, swelling on my hands that continued up almost mid-forearm of both hands/arms after wearing them for about 1 hour. It started with redness and itching initially, and then it progressed to edema and pain.
