The product, in the report: Woman’s heated Harley Davidson jacket. 98230-12vw/000m
I was wearing a woman’s heated Harley jacket today. It was cold so I used it most of the day. The jacket has always seemed to get much warmer on the back. Today I actually received several burned areas. One in particular is fluid filled and very large. It burned thru a cami, shirt and heavy hooded jacket.

First aid Made Apr 6, 2013, sent to the company Apr 15, 2013, published by CPSC Apr 29, 2013
The product, in the report: Heated jacket liner 12v
I bought a Gerbing heated jacket liner, with a dual thermostat, from Brian’s Harley Davidson, in Dec 2011. I live in Eastern Pennsylvania and it worked great until February 2013. In February I started to feel a hot spot on the left lower-middle side of my back, I adjusted the thermostat but just that spot stayed hotter. I didn’t think much of it after that ride. The next ride the hot spot got worse. Under the liner I had a heavy flannel shirt, a long sleeve shirt and a T-shirt and it was still burning my back in that one spot. When I got home I asked my wife to look at my back and I had a red spot, about 3” across. The next day when I looked the red spot had turn into a blister about the size of a dime and about ¼” high. This liner really burnt my back. The liner showed two little burn marks, about a 1 ½” apart and you could feel a clump of wiring in that area of the liner.
I called Brian’s HD and they told me to bring the jacket in. They were really good about the whole thing. Instead of me sending it back, and waiting to hear from Gerbing, they gave me a new one. They stated they had never seen or heard of this happening before. They also promised me they would give Gerbing my contact information and tell them the severity of my burn and they would get back to me. That has not happened yet and it has been over 3 weeks.
