The product, in the report: Heated jacket liner
The morning was very cool- and my wife was wearing her Gerbing jacket liner.
Gerbing jacket liner connector plug got very hot -and burned my hand to touch it. It even melted the seat of my 2018 [REDACTED] motorcycle a little.
We unplugged the jacket liner and let it cool down after it cooled we were unable to use it again as the plug was damaged by the heat.
We have had this happen before with a different Gerbing jacket liner.
These jackets are a lot of money... I will reach out to the company as well

The product, in the report: Heated jacket, black Po # 3279
I got a slight burn on my lower left stomach where the controller plugs into the jacket. This happened a few times when I had the controller on a high setting. Lately I’ve been putting an insulation item between the connection and my stomach to avoid another burn.
I just discovered the recall notice on some of the Gerbing’s jackets in a posting on a motorcycle website. Reviewed the recall and it doesn’t list the # on my jackets label. I have a call into Gerbing’s to tell them of my issue, but also wanted to register my complaint.int here.
My jacket has a built date on the label of August 10; and a Po # 3279; and an RN # 110276

The product, in the report: Jacket Heated Liner
Gerbing Heated Jacket Liners - Left on road trip on my motorcycle on March 17, 2013. Wearing all Gerbing heated equipment including jacket liner, gloves, pant liner, and Gerbing temperature addapter. Jacket liner became easily uncomfortable with heat, had to continually adjust temperature while riding. That night found one inch by two inch area of large blisters on my front stomach area. Next evening found two similar sized blistered areas on my back. On my return trip received a phone call from Harley Davidson shop where jacket liner was purchased advising of recall for potential burn hazard. Finished ride home with temp lowest as possible without being cold and did not receive any additional burns.

Hurt, no treatment Made Apr 23, 2013, sent to the company Apr 30, 2013, published by CPSC May 14, 2013
The product, in the report: Gerbings Heated Clothing Electrically heated microwire jacket via 12V power, size L-R, PO#3278, May 10 manufacture date. This company has other jackets being recalled for a similar problem on the back, but mine has burned me in the front. The burn is right where a connection is inside the right front portion of the jacket.
I was wearing my Gerbings Heated Electric jacket on a motorcycle ride this weekend, and I received a first degree burn 1/2 inch long with a blister on my RH side. I have now seen that Gerbings has a recall for later built jackets (recall 13-171), but mine is dated May 2010 which is a full year before their recall dates.
I will be calling Gerbings about this incident later today, and I hope that my report can help keep other people from injury.
