The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Alpha Industries B-15 flight jacket color: replica blue size: M link: https://www.alphaindustries.com/mens-flight-bomber-jackets-b-15-flight-jacket

My wife purchased a replica blue B-15 nylon bomber jacket from Alpha Industries for my birthday.

The jacket gave off an incredibly strong chemical smell when I first unboxed it. On wearing the jacket the smell started to burn my nose and throat, caused lung irritation and asthma-like symptoms and I developed a headache.

I aired the jacket outdoors for some time and while the smell has diminished, the health effects have not. I cannot wear the jacket at all, even if I smell it I get affected.

I think I do have a lung sensitivity to certain solvents and VOCs, but even when I asked my wife to smell the jacket she noticed a burning and irritatation in her nose and throat. Her reaction is not nearly as severe as mine though.

The label on the jacket says “MADE IN CHINA” and made from Nylon, Polyester and some Acrylic (fake fur collar).

I am currently in correspondence with a Alpha Industries (www.alphaindustries) customer service to find out if they can tell me what is causing this problem.
