The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Trumpette baby socks, mustard yellow with a black button on the side. The socks look like mary jane shoes.

My daughter is 11 months old wearing the trumpette socks and pulled the external button off of the baby sock. She put the button in her mouth and started to choke. The button was dislodged from her throat.

The product, in the report: Trumpette Olivia’s socks for newborn (size 0-12 months)

I recently purchased a box set of 6 Trumpette Olivia infant socks for my 8 month old daughter. They have a decorative nonfunctional button sewn onto the side of each sock. The first time she wore the olive colored socks she pulled on one of the buttons. I noticed her doing this and saw that the button seemed loose. I tugged on it slightly and the button came off.

This is extremely dangerous and unacceptable for clothing worn by infants! If I had not noticed the loose thread at that moment, she could have choked on the button. Babies put everything in their mouths! Any buttons on infant clothing should be double or triple reinforced, not loosely attached.

The product, in the report: Trumpette Olivia Socks

I had purchased a box set of Trumpette baby socks- Olivia style. There is a small button on each sock. My 8 month old pulled one of the buttons off the first time she wore them. This is a chocking hazard. I have e-mailed the company and am waiting on their response.

The product, in the report: Trumpette Mary Jane “spring argyle” baby socks 0-6 months with single bead decor. 3 pack of green, pink, purple colors.

I purchased the Trumpette Baby Socks called “Spring Argyle Mary Jane” 0-6 months size; they come in a package of 3 colors. I bought them from Zulily.com. The socks have a small bead sewn onto them. The first time I put a pair of the socks on my child, one of the beads came off within a couple of hours. This poses a real choking hazard and as my baby loves to both grab her feet and put things in her mouth, I was just glad she hadn’t been injured.
