The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Spanx shapewear underwear

I started wearing spanx daily in March or April of this year. In approx June of this year my right outer thigh started to feel like it was asleep. By July I was having burning stabbing pain in the back of my right thigh that became so severe that it would keep me up for most of the night. In August I was diagnosed with meralgia paresthetica due to wearing spanx compression garments. I stopped wearing them that day and over time the pain is not as constant or severe but I have no feeling in my outer thigh due to nerve damage and I could possibly never regain feeling in my outer thigh. If spanx had been required to put a warning label on their compression garments that wearing their product could cause meralgia paresthetica leading to long term nerve damage I would have never worn their product
