The product, in the report: Womens Bra

I bought 5 different Maidenform-bras last March when I was on holiday in USA. I wore one pair in early summer and got severe and itchy rush. It took few days to realize that bras can cause it. Never heard anything like this before. And it took almost a week to recover. I am not aware of being allergic to anything. I was throwing those bras away immediately. After that I’ve tried to use those other bras, but the same allergic reaction happened. It is really painful. And it happened again this week when I was trying to use the last pair.

I am so afraid of buying any new bras before knowing what may cause this and how to avoid this.

The product, in the report: Cream colored Maidenform underwire bra

Several months ago I purchased two Maidenform bras. They were two different styles. I washed them both and wore one a few days later. I developed a tremendous bra shaped rash, very itchy. I thought that perhaps someone had washed something caustic prior to my use of the washer and so washed it two more times. In the mean time I wear the other bra with no problem. I again wear the first bra, same horrible rash appeared. I returned the bra to the store and they allowed me to exchange the bra for one just like the non-rash inducing bra. I washed this bra and wore it and behold, I get a terrible rash. Even though the bras were the same, one was made in China and one in Indonesia. The one from China was the bad one. After perusing the internet, it would appear that this is not an uncommon occurence. Perhaps these bras should be tested. I kept mine.

The product, in the report: 40DD bras. Lilyette o of 12 #0176266u65793 Emails included. Pictures included. 2 bras still in consumer’s possession. Rest thrown away. kept 1 frequently used bras (w. discoloring). 1 twice used bras (w. discoloring)

Approximately May-June of 2010 a retailer was having a 1/2 off special. She purchased 5 bras, all in the size 40DD. After purchasing the bras she hand washed them with non-allergic laundry detergent, then she hang dried them.

Within a couple of days of washing them she noticed that the brass hooks on the bra began to change from silver to red in color. She started to get a rash in between her breasts and on her left and right shoulders. The consumer did not receive any medical treatment in regards to her rash.

The consumer discarded the bras with the metal and just went out and bought new ones without the metal pieces.

The consumer contacted a representative from the retailer in March 2011. The representative advised her to bring the bras back. She did not return the bras at all. She also sent an email to the manufacturing company, but she never got a response from them.

The consumer also filed a complaint with her states consumer protection office in 2011 (report number unknown).

The consumer feels that the dis-coloration on the metal and the rash is a safety hazard and believes it may have a high level of lead.
