Hurt, no treatment Made May 14, 2026, sent to the company May 19, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 3, 2026
The product, in the report: Conair Corporation makeup mirror. small, round, model BERC19
Conair makeup mirror model BERC19 was plugged in but power off and not in use. We happened to be in the room and heard a loud pop. We looked over and the mirror was emitting noxious smoke. We quickly unplugged it from the wall, and then the mirror itself cracked and was extremely hot to the touch. there was black soot around the mirror and on the floor, along with burn marks on the back of the mirror where the power cord plugs into the unit. We move it immediately outside. no one was injured, but we are lucky to avoid a house fire. This could have happened a few hours earlier while the whole house was asleep.

The product, in the report: Black scrolled lighted and magnification circular vanity mirror
The Conair Beauty lighted magnification mirror model BE125MB has an In-line circular switch that cut the cord from normal use of turning the product on and off. Other purchasers have reported this on Amazon as well which concerned me with it not being a unique situation.
