    • What happened that made you want to report? • My son suffered second degree burns on three spots on his body – one large burn on his neck, one on his shoulder, and one on his hand. • What type of product(s) were being used? • GizmoWatch 2 and charger https://www.verizon.com/connected-smartwatches/verizon-gizmowatch-2/ • Who was using the product(s)? • My 8 yr old son. • How were the product(s) being used? • The GizmoWatch was on his hand and the charger was laying next to him on the bed. • Were there any injuries that happened or may have happened while using the product? • Yes, burns in three areas. • How did any injuries occur? • My son had just received his GizmoWatch 2 and it was on the charger because the battery was low. He made a call on his watch and while talking to his grandparents the watch stated “I am hot.” My son removed it from the charger and kept talking on the watch with the charger next to him on the bed. At some point he got up and started screaming in extreme pain. We were not sure where it was coming from as he was clutching for his neck. Afterward, we were able to determine the pain was a result of his necklace (stainless steel) that was laying on the GizmoWatch charger. The only explanation for how the necklace became hot enough to burn his skin was that as he was laying down, the necklace came into contact with the charging pins on the GizmoWatch charging base. Since the watch was removed from the charger and the charger was not unplugged, electricity was still flowing through the charging base. As a result of the electricity and the stainless-steel necklace, the electricity heated a section of the necklace to the point where the necklace has burn marks. When my son moved, the necklace disengaged from the charging base and came into contact with his skin. It was at that point that he started screaming in pain thinking his shirt was on fire.
