Hurt, no treatment Made Mar 28, 2019, sent to the company Apr 4, 2019, published by CPSC Apr 18, 2019
The product, in the report: Timex Expedition M076 watch
Sir/Ma’am, I purchased a Timex Expedition Grid Shock M076 (number on back of watch) in December 2016 in Manila, Philippines. I have worn it almost every day since. However, beginning approximately October/November 2018, the skin under where I wear the watch started turning red. My doctor thinks that I have developed an allergy to the wrist band, or the band is leeching something into my skin. I left the watch off for a few days and the redness went away. I started wearing the watch again daily in December 2018 and January 2019, but the redness of my skin underneath the watch returned. I did not wear the watch for a few days and the redness subsided. On 30 January 2019, I wore the watch for a few hours and my skin underneath the watch turned deep red. I made initial contact with the watch maker (Timex Corporation), and after exchanging emails and photographs they wanted me to send the watch to them for analysis. I agreed to send the watch with the understanding that the Timex Corporation would return the watch and provide me with a copy of their analysis. I have not received answers to my emails since 18 March 2019 when I was informed that my watch had been received by their quality team for analysis. It is my belief that the Timex Corporation has completed the analysis of my watch and have discovered that something is leeching from the watch strap. I have attached all email correspondence with the manufacfturer as well as pictures of my wrist and the watch.
