The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 (40mm), black
I am reporting a severe product safety hazard involving a 40mm Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 that overheated during normal use, inflicting a physical burn injury on my left arm. The manufacturer has dismissed the claim, but the product remains a dangerous thermal hazard. I originally purchased this product from AT&T in September 2025. I am 32 years old and the sole owner and user of the product. At the time of the incident, the watch was being worn normally on my wrist as a daily fitness and activity tracker. It had a history of getting abnormally hot during workouts and right after being taken off its charger. On the day of the injury, I had fallen asleep while wearing it normally on my arm. The product caused a physical thermal burn on my arm. While I was asleep, the watch face overheated against my wrist. I woke up to a sharp burning sensation. When I took the watch off my arm, the backing of the device was so hot that it physically pulled a piece of skin off with it, leaving a raw, open wound. I have photo proof of the wound and the device, which I am uploading along with this report.

The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, silver,
After a 20 minute swim in an above ground pool, I felt an intense burning sensation on my wrist. I realized that my Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro was burning my wrist. I quickly removed it and put in on a non-flammable surface. It left a faint red mark on my wrist which has since faded. The watch battery continued to heat, and it will no longer turn on.

No one hurt Made Aug 16, 2025, sent to the company Aug 20, 2025, published by CPSC Sep 4, 2025
The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Watch6 LTE (44mm), graphite color, smartwatch designed for health tracking, emergency calling, and cellular connectivity. Used on Google Fi/T-Mobile network. Device repeatedly overheats during normal use, creating burn risk to wearer and causing loss of emergency and alert functionality.
On August 14, 2025, after T-Mobile/Google Fi made backend changes to partially restore cellular service to my Samsung Galaxy Watch6 LTE, the watch began to overheat severely during normal use.
Since then, the watch has repeatedly entered thermal runaway, where it continues heating and does not cool on its own. In one event, the device locked into airplane mode only and could not recover until I physically placed it in a freezer to end the thermal event. This presents a serious burn risk to the wearer, since it is worn on the wrist.
These overheating cycles are tied to network instability and have disabled critical functions such as emergency calling, AMBER/WEA alerts, and safety/health monitoring features. Logs suggest that when the watch displayed emergency calls only, emergency calls may not have actually gone through.
I have related evidence under active investigations with the FCC and Kansas Attorney General:
[REDACTED]
The evidence shows this is not just a carrier issue, but a Samsung device safety defect triggered by network instability. The device becomes dangerously hot and unsafe for consumer use.

The product, in the report: Samsung - Galaxy Watch4 Aluminum Smartwatch 40mm BT - Gold (I no longer have the device so I do not known manufacture date or serial number. Samsung is in possession of the device as they required that it be returned in order to refund me.)
I began regularly wearing my Samsung Watch 4 in October 2022 and I sustained a burn in the shape of the watch face on my wrist. It was painful and I have a scar in the shape of a circle on my wrist. It appears to have been caused by the device overheating. Samsung immediately offered to refund me for the watch but required me to return it to them in order to pay me. They indicated that they would open a claim for my injury but are refusing to compensate me for my injury. It is documented on the internet through multiple forums that this is a known problem and has been for some time.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Watch 46mm that the battery caught on fire while in my arm, it caused burnt, it was very painful. As it was burning my skin I struggled to open the watch band( the original one). The burnt marks in my arms stayed for over 10days. I contacted Samsung several times and they always informed me I would receive a call within 24 hours, they never did. It has been 2 months and I made 7 calls to them. The only thing they did was to send me a prepaid envelope for me to send the watch to their labs which I did. I remember that I had the same problem with the [REDACTED] back in 2016. I begged to Samsung to do something so other users would not suffer the same faith as I did. They ignore all my pleas

The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Watch
I received a Samsung Galaxy Watch at Christmas as a gift. I have had no problems with it until yesterday. While driving on my way home, the back of the watch became very hot. I initially thought that I had been stung by a bee. I removed the watch and discovered that the back of the watch was extremely hot. I was unable to touch the back of the watch because it was so hot. I powered the watch off. When I got home I tried to power the watch back on and discovered that the watch back was discolored and the glass had cracked from the heat. The watch immediately got hot again and I powered it back off to prevent a fire.

The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Watch SM-R810 model# SM-R810NZDAXAR
Galaxy watch overheating, battery draining fast. Samsung Galaxy Watch SM-R810 (model# SM-R810NZDAXAR) overheated so bad it burnt my wife’s wrist and melted the glue holding the glass over the sensor on the bottom of the watch that touches the skin.
Samsung is making consumers pay to have this defect repaired, the potential for the watch to explode is high due to the type of battery that is used. The secondary safety issue in my opinion is fire’s, if this watch catches fire in your residence the probability of a fire is high. Most people take off their watches at night and place them on the charger, if it overheats and catches fire everyone in the house is at risk.
I have copied Samsung’s link, this is where consumers have posted overheating problems with their Galaxy Watches. This is not all inclusive as other consumers have posted similar issues under a different titled post.
