I bought a DZ09 Smartwatch, off of a shopping app called Tophatter. When it arrived, one of the bands was somewhat broken, so I emailed Tophatter, asking to return it for an exchange. Instead, they just refunded my money. Later, the same day that I received it, I was taking it off my arm to go to bed, and the battery EXPLODED! I am EXTREMELY lucky that I wasn’t seriously burned! It sprayed battery acid into the air, as the watch was still in my hand, and again, LUCKILY I didn’t get any on me, but the toxic smell, that it emitted, filled half my house. I dropped the watch on the floor, when it exploded, because it scared me so bad, but then my inquisitive kittens went toward it, so I picked it up from the floor, and ran outside with it, and left it on my porch, until it was cooled off, and no longer leaking acid. I emailed the company to let them know what had happened, and they gave me another $10 credit on my account, but won’t even tell me who manufacture the watch for me to contact them. I guess since I got my money back for the purchase, they consider the issue resolved. I however, do NOT! If this happened to me, it must have happened to others, or at the very least, it CAN happen to others. There’s no way for me to leave a review about the product on the site, and I feel that people need to be warned. Do we really have to wait until someone loses an arm, or their LIFE, before the PUBLIC has the right to be informed? I was thinking of consulting with an attorney, but I was really hoping that I wouldn’t have to go that route, and that you guys could possibly help me. I don’t have money for a lawyer, and I simply want to warn others, so that no one gets hurt.
