  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Aug 7, 2026, sent to the company Aug 12, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 26, 2026

The product, in the report: Oura Ring 4 smart ring, brushed silver finish, size 10. Rechargeable wearable health and wellness smart ring designed to track sleep, activity, heart rate, body temperature trends, readiness, and other biometric data. The ring contains internal sensors and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and is intended to be worn continuously throughout the day and night.

I purchased and regularly wear an Oura Ring 4 as intended by the manufacturer. I have worn Oura rings for over a year without experiencing any issues. On the day of the incident, while wearing my Oura Ring 4 during normal daily activities, I noticed that the ring felt warmer than usual that afternoon. Because I had been wearing Oura rings for over a year without any previous problems, I did not think anything was wrong and continued wearing it.

Later that day, when I removed the ring before showering, I discovered a painful skin injury exactly where the ring sits on my finger. The ring was not excessively tight, and I had not suffered any other injury that could explain the wound. Over the following days, the affected area became increasingly red, itchy, irritated, painful, and the top layer of my skin peeled away.

I immediately stopped using the ring and documented the injury with photographs and video. I reported the incident to Oura under Case #[REDACTED]. Despite informing the company that my condition was worsening, I received only an automated response generated by a virtual assistant. My requests for a human review, a product safety investigation, instructions to return the ring for inspection, and information regarding responsibility and resolution were not addressed.

I am submitting this report because I believe I was injured while using the Oura Ring 4 as intended and believe this incident should be investigated as a potential product safety issue.
