The product, in the report: Thorogood American Heritage 6” Mac Toe Work Boot, Soft Toe, Premium Full-Grain Leather with slip resistant wedge outsole, EH Rated, size 12 2E

Dear Consumer Product Safety Commission, I am writing to report an extremely hazardous issue concerning Thorogood leather work boots that I recently purchased. Upon opening the box, I was immediately struck by a strong chemical odor. I thought it was due to being in the box and was part of new leather boots. While wearing these boots in the enclosed cabin of my truck, I experienced severe dizziness that forced me to pull over. I began vomiting repeatedly and struggled to park. Even after managing to get home, I continued to feel ill, sweating and vomiting profusely and experiencing discomfort for several hours. As a result, I was unable to work the rest of the day due to my condition. It became evident that the product was off-gassing numerous hazardous fumes, which posed a significant health risk. Regrettably, the boots continue to emit toxic fumes even when stored outside. This alarming situation warrants immediate attention, and I urge the Commission to initiate a recall of this product to prevent further health risks to consumers, especially those that operate machinery. Additionally, I am taking the boots for chemical testing at a laboratory to confirm the hazardous nature of the fumes. I am seeking an expedited product recall as my primary concern, as well as reimbursement from Thorogood Company for the cost of the product and compensation for the lost wages I incurred due to illness. Thank you for your urgent attention to this matter. I look forward to your swift response to ensure consumer safety.
