The product, in the report: Steve Madden Olivia flat sandal, tan color, size 7.5

I purchased a pair of Steve Madden sandals in the style Olivia through Amazon and they were delivered to my home on 7/3/17. I wore the shoes quite a few times until 7/22/17. I started to notice my feet were a bit itchy on the tops of my feet but for a while I thought I had some sort of insect bite. After wearing the shoes all day one day the itching was so bad that I realized I was having a reaction to the shoes. At that point I stopped wearing them and even returned them to Amazon. Unfortunately I have developed a severe rash. I’ve taken oral steroids and am using a prescribed prescription strength cream but the rash it not diminishing so I will be making an appointment with my dermatologist tomorrow. After some quick google searching I’ve found that I’m not the only one who has experienced this reaction from these particular shoes. I have submitted an inquiry to Steve Madden but feel this product should be recalled from all distributors.

The product, in the report: Steve Madden Sandal- “Olivia Rose Gold” Size 9 Leather Upper/Sock Rubber Outersole Made in Brazil

I purchased Steve Madden sandals a few months ago. The sandals had a thong strap and then a thick strap that covered about half of the top of my feet. I started wearing them for about a month when I noticed a symmetrical rash developing on the tops of my feet in the shape of the sandal outline. I immediately stopped wearing the shoes, but the rash developed into a severe rash. It was the worst experience of my life. It was excruciating itching, pain, and irritation on my feet that took 3-4 weeks to start to heal. It took several doctor’s visits and strong steroids to calm the rash down. It has been healed for about 2-3 months now but my skin on my feet is ultra sensitive to anything that touches it now. It has completely changed my skin, and any long term friction now that occurs on my skin will start to make my feet itch. After being healed, my dermatologist tested me for 84 skin allergens commonly found in shoes such as dyes, leathers, glues, and leather tanning. However, my skin reacted to NONE of the components. The only place my skin reacted to was an inch long piece of the shoe the doctor’s cut out and taped on my skin. The small area reacted so severely that they injected it with steroids. Evidently, the rash on my feet was due to the shoes itself, not a shoe allergen. This concerns me because there was something in the shoe that made my skin react so terribly, and we don’t know what it was. This is also concerning because Steve Madden is a popular and trusted brand that many people purchase from. Steve Madden also tested their inventory shoes for me and found no unusual components.
