How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 1 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Aug 22, 2011, published by CPSC Sep 15, 2011

The product, in the report: Brown and orange thong-type flip flops with ankle strap, baby/toddler size 4, “Stepping Stones” stamped on innersole. Tag reads “Stepping Stones, N.Y. N.Y. 10008 Style #S11B-707, RN130895”

My grandson was walking in thong-type flip flops with ankle straps and slid, nearly hitting his head on concrete. The shoes are new. We noticed the sole is a fabric/textile material. It was impossible for him to walk on tile floor with out sliding. At one point, he was on the floor on his stomach trying to get up and his feet (shoes on) kept sliding out from under him. He could not get up. We thought they would be ok to wear outside, but no. He even slipped twice on a concrete, pool deck type surface, very nearly hitting his head on two different occasions (two different adults supervising on different days.) The shoes are a baby/toddler size four. My grandson is 15 months old and has been walking for four months. In other shoes, he does not slip. He even practically runs without falling. These shoes have a dangerous slippery fabric/textile material sole with absolutely no traction. The sole is actually kind of fuzzy.

The tag on the inside reads “Stepping Stones, NY, NY 10008, Style#S11B-707, RN130895.”

I searched online and found Bon Bini, DBA Stepping Stones. I have no idea if it is the same place.

We are not going to let my grandson wear these shoes anymore, even out in the the yard. They are simply too dangerous. We feel very lucky he did not hurt himself. I hope no other children are injured wearing these shoes. Please do what you can to stop the sale of these shoes.
