I was surprised to find out that so many people are having the same symptoms after wearing Sherry brand shoes. After wearing these shoes the top of my foot swells up, itches like crazy and has a burning sensation. At first I didn’t know what was causing the discomfort, but soon realized that the symptoms appear after wearing these particular shoes. I have read the multiple concerns from other consumers with the same issue. Sperry’s response is always that it is possible the cause could be an allergic reaction. While I agree that this is likely the cause, I believe it is time for Sherry to step up and change the material used on their product if numerous people are taking time to complain about the same concern.

I bought a pair of Sperry top siders a while ago. Black ones. They gave me a severe allergic reaction. There were blisters, swelling and a rash. I went to the doctor and he said he thought it was the dye from the shoes. About a year later, I bought another pair, khaki color. Thinking that the dye was the problem, I wore them for about an hour. After I took gen off, the rash is back. Worse than before. Blisters and all. Last time, I had to be put on steroids and it took a little over a week to start to go away. The pain and itching is unbearable.

I was wearing tan/brown Sperry Leather Dock/boat Shoes without any socks for a few consecutive days. My feet were exposed to the shoe material. As the days went by, the top and bottom of my feet started to itch. The shoes were only worn for a 4-6 hours a day. Eventually, a rash developed. Some very small blisters where formed. I have owned these shoes for a few years but I have not worn them for couple of years. I actually had the same experience when i used to wear them. I actually did not ever wear them very often, maybe less than 10 times since I have owned them. Only until this recent experience did I connect the rash and the shoes. The rash appears when the shoe contacted my skin. As my feet started to heal, it bled and cracks due to the rash and small blisters. The skin is now more sensitive and is rougher with a slight discoloration.

I have purchased two separate pairs of Sperry Dock Siders canvas shoes. The first one was black, the second one light gray. With both pairs of shoes I got a HORRIBLE rash all over the part of my foot that was covered by the shoe. This happened both with and without socks. I came to learn there is a chemical in the CANVAS (not the glue) that I am allergic to. Whatever chemical they use will transfer to your sock and will not wash off, so in addition to losing my shoes, I also had to lose my socks. The rash I received was bright red spots all over my foot that were itchy and painful and required medical attention and prescription medicine. I was convinced it couldn’t be the shoes because I had owned several other pairs of these shoes with no problems, but after careful consideration I realized my previous versions were leather. I’ve since gone back to the leather shoes and have not had a problem. It’s only the canvas and the canvas causes MAJOR problems.

I first wore my new Sperry shoes about a month ago, and I received terrible blisters on both of my feet. The blisters were both about 4 inches long, and their shape followed the stitching of my shoes. Though I have never had such severe blistering in my life, I attributed the problem to the fact that I hadn’t worn socks, which is not my usual practice. I didn’t wear my shoes again after the blisters appeared, but the sores continued to swell and weep for over a week. It took another week for fresh skin to appear. Even last weekend, friends at the beach wanted to know what had happened to my feet to leave such large, visible scarring.
Yesterday, I wore my shoes again, being sure to wear socks. When I took my shoes off last night, my feet were fine. I woke up at 5:00 AM this morning, with my feet feeling like they had been scalded and stung by bees. By this afternoon, I have blisters on both feet in the exact shape of the stitching on my Sperry Top-Siders.

I was wearing a pair of Sperry Top-Sider shoes (men’s 13M, STS12019, C15-61432, made in China) at a co-workers party. I felt a slight burning sensation on the tops of my feet, so I switched into a pair of socks. When I returned home I noticed that the tops of both of my feet were fairly red and sensitive. The real pain and itching came the next day when my feet worsened. The redness was darker, my feet became swollen, multiple blisters appeared, and I was in sever pain... It was painful for me to walk. I am currently on day three and my feet are still extremely itchy, redness is still dark and very prevalent, and blistering has continued. Very uncomfortable to say the least. After looking and doing some research online, I emailed Sperry customer support on Sunday, May 29th and Monday, May 30th with my story and explained what their product had done to my feet (including pictures of my feet). I have not received any responses.

I bought these Limited edition JAWS Sperrys Top-Siders and have never worn this brand before. The first time I wore the shoes I had large blisters on the tips of my toes and big red patches on the tops of my feet. I wore socks the first time with them so I thought k may be having some reaction to the socks. However, the second time I wore the shoes I didn’t wear anything at all with them. I wore them maybe 10 hours and when I got home my feet were covered blisters. My feet are itchy and swollen with large blisters on almost all of my toes, the sides of my feet, the heels of my feet, and the tops. I’m not sure if this is common for these shoes but I’m really disappointed.

I bought these Sperry shoes at a boatshow and wore them for MAYBE 6-8 hours. The following morning at approximately 5am I was woken to burning and itching feet. The sensation was excruciating!! This was October 12th of 2015. The condition worsened even with taking Benadryl, using Benadryl spray and the liquid pen, soaking my feet in ice to lukewarm water, using tea tree oil and prescribed medication cream for rashes. Once the condition progressed, I went to the doctor October 15th where he stated it was a result of the chemical used to treat the leather on the shoe. I was advised to use a second prescribed cream. It is now the 16th of October, 2015, and the condition is at its worst. Swelling, fluid retention, Inflammation, itching, burning and pain have taken over a large area of both my feet from my toes to my heels. I can’t sleep, I can’t wear closed toe shoes, I can’t focus with this pain and burn and itch constantly. I am going to the doctor again today. I am sickened that a company puts such harmful products into the market where unsuspecting consumers suffer without warning! I wasted my money on these shoes and now it’s costing me even more with the worsening effects. I am definitely looking into filing with the Better Business Bureau as well as a potential lawsuit for the pain and suffering. This is disgusting!

Around 7/1/2015, I purchased a pair of Mens Sperry Top-Sider Shoes, Product Code 0772830 / B15-61432. After wearing these shoes for several days, I decided to add [REDACTED] Foot Powder to the shoes. About 2 days later, my feet began blistering and burning. A very painful rash developed on both of my feet in the exact outline of the shoes. Having never had an issue with shoes before, I assumed the allergic reaction was to the [REDACTED]powder. After three weeks, the rash has began to heal.
On 7/31/2015, I purchased another pair of the Sperry’s. I wore the new pair of shoes, with socks, for approximately 2 hours. Within 4 hours after removing the shoes, the blisters and rash returned to both of my feet. I visited the Doctor this morning where I was diagnosed with a severe allergic reaction to the shoes, or chemicals in the shoes.

The product, in the report: Sperry Topsiders shoes. Note that I did not go to a doctor, and am instead treating the rash/burn at home with over the counter steroid cream and antihistamines. If my insurance covered doctor visits, then I would absolutely have gone to the doctor to get this treated.
Sperry Topsiders shoes give my feet a rash / chemical burn. Causes severe pain and itching. Possible permanent scarring. Must be some type of chemical or material in them that causes an extreme allergic reaction. This has been ongoing for over a year. Last summer I didn’t realize it was the shoes that was causing my rash / burn. I got multiple rashes last year that I could not figure out what was causing them. It took months for my feet to finally clear up. Then this year, July 1, I wore the shoes for the first time in 8 months and the rash immediately flared up again. Now my feet are painful and red, all caused by the Sperry Topsiders.

I purchased ( 1st Pair ) Green Camouflage canvas Sperry’s April 2014. Wore them while I was camping for the first time May 2014. Wore them all day and my feel began to itch and were on fire. The next day I wore them again and tops of both feet blistered and oozing puss. Went to the doctor because I assumed I had poison Ivy. The doctor did think it was poison ivy because of straight rash line on the top of my feet. 3 weeks of hell to get my feet back to normal. The doctor told me to wash the shoes in HOT water and to also put them in the freezer for 2 weeks to get rid of the Ivy Oil. Wore the shoes for 1 hour after my feet were healed. Same thing Again. I through the shoes away in the trash
Purchased a ( 2nd pair ) new pair of Blue Canvas Sperry at Nordstrom November 2014. Just wore them the first time on April 17, 2015. I wore them all day and my feel began to itch. I pulled the shoes off and I have the exact same condition as before. The tops of my feet are burnt and blistered.
I have not slept in for 2 days and in complete itching HELL again. It occurred to me that this was too much of a coincidence so I Googled this only to find a long ongoing history of quality problem with Sperry Canvas shoes causing the same condition.

I was wearing my Sperry shoes on Easter sunday. To church. I also wore no show socks. Only covered my toes. They had lace on the socks. The top of my feet are so blistered and itch so bad. It looks like I got stung by wasp. My feet are swollen. It is very painful to walk and I can’t even sleep it hurts so bad. I soaked my feet in cool water. I tried taking [REDACTED]. Nothing is helping. I think my feet was drenched in toxic waste. It’s like they are bubbling up On the tops of my feet. I purchased about 20 pairs of these shoes. Is several different colors from amazon.Com over the Sumner last year. I An Just Now Getting The CHANCE To Wear them. this is freaking me out.

I have been wearing Sperry Topsiders for about 30 years just about exclusively, now every pair I’ve tried (four in the last two years) all chemically burn my feet after a few hours wearing them. Doesn’t matter where I buy them or what model shoe I pick, the leather and canvas both produce chemical burns on my feet.
The burns are so harsh that my feet look and feel like I’ve had untreated poison ivy for a week, the Doctor confirmed it was a chemical burn of some type but I opted out of all the testing to try and determine what chemical exactly, it’s clearly some chemical being used on the Topsiders.
I have no other allergies, no other shoes burn my feet like these and nothing seems to stop the burning except taking off the Sperry Topsiders. I don’t know what they changed in the manufacturing of these shoes over the past several years but there is definitely something different about the ones I’ve been buying lately.
It’s really a shame, these used to be great shoes for so many years and now I can’t wear them.

Bought a new pair of Sperry’s Top-Sider Canvas shoes and put them on in the house when I got home to try them out before going to bed, wore them a total of maybe an hour. About midway though the night I woke up with severe itching and burning that wouldn’t go away. Morning came and I went to work thinking maybe it would go away but by noon that day the burning became so bad that I had to take off my shoes and see what was going on. After removing my shoe I couldn’t believe it as my feet were swollen and blisters were forming on my toes, heels and tops. My feet had a red outline identical to the shape of the Sperry’s shoe that I had worn the night before so I searched online and found others had had the same thing happen. Its been a few days and it has progressively gotten better but still very red and open sores. I have no other allergies to speak of, not currently on any medication and have never had anything like this happen with any other type of shoes which leads me to believe the Sperry’s may have had something to do with it.

Severe skin allergic reaction to wearing Sperry Top Sider womens canvas shoes. Red burning and itching that lasts for several days. My issue is primarily on the top side of my foot and the length of my toes. The first couple of times I considered maybe it was not the shoe since I’ve never had this issue and tried them again. Lo and behold, the same reaction in the same place.

I wore my pair of Speery Top Siders to a festival on Saturday the 31st of May 2014. Later that evening the tops of my feet began to itch and turn red. I washed my feet and tried to sleep, during the night my feet began itching severely and in the morning I woke up with blisters starting to form on the tops of my feet and my feet started to swell. I did not continue wearing them. Later that day I had severe swelling and itching and large blisters forming still only on the tops of my feet. I soaked them in ice water to help lessen the itch and reduce the swelling. Today is Monday, June 2nd 2014 and my doctor was able to see me and said I either had a severe allergic reaction or possibly a chemical burn. He prescribed Prednisone for 12 days. My feet are a mess and I don’t know how I will be able to go to work like this.

I wore my Coral Bahama Canvas Sperry Topsider Boat Shoes two days ago for maybe a total of 4 hours, walked around the mall and when I arrived home, my feet were a little irritated. So, at first, I put baby powder on them to try and help with the irritation, and then it became much much worse. I had a severe allergic reaction to these shoes to the point where my feet look chemically burned. And so swollen that I can barely walk.
I went to a walk-in clinic and had to get a double steroid shot, an RX for prednisone and [REDACTED], and have to put an extremely strong cortisone ointment on my feet ( Clobetasol Propionate).

I purchased a pair of Sperry Top Sider Halyard 2 eye Choco/Honey (0777867/ bar code 044211742434) on Saturday 10/5/2013 and wore them the same evening for approximately 3-4 hours. As the night ended and I removed the Top Sider, I noticed my feet were red and slightly swollen. Later that evening I noticed my feet began to turn a brighter red, swell worse, and itch. My feet were red and swollen in the exact outline of how the pair of Sperry is worn on my feet. I visited the doctor Monday, 10/7/13, and they informed me that the shoes had more than irritated the skin, but I actually had a slight chemical burn on my feet. I am now on antibiotics (amoxicillin) to prevent any infections and a steroid cream to see if it would help reduce the irritation. As of Tuesday 10/9/2013, my feet are still swollen, red, and now blisters have begun to form. I have previously had an allergy test completed in the Army and only had a reaction to nickel. I do not have a latex allergy either.

My daughter (14) is experiencing either an allergic reaction or a chemical burn to her feet after wearing a pair of Sperry canvas shoes. This is the second time this has happened after wearing these particular shoes.
There is a very itchy, painful burning feeling associated with the reaction and the symptoms lasted for over two weeks the first time. There are also very small blisters.

I bought a pair of tan Sperry Topsiders and after wearing them I noticed what looked like a second degree chemical burn with redness and blistering on the tops and sides of my feet that directly correlated where the canvas part of the shoe came in contact with my skin. It itched and burned intensely. I had to go to my doctor and get a prescription for prednisone and as my skin healed, it started to peel off.
