The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Rugged Exposure shoes “Slip-resistant” stated on box Model: Journey Plus Wide (velcro style) 1071 Color: Black Size: 8.5 Women’s SKU: 3915923 Retail: $49.99 (sale price $19.99 at Big 5 Sporting Goods) Bar code: 2202800821 Bottom of shoe reads “oil-resistant” and “slip-resistant”

I work in an oil changing shop and we are required to wear oil-resistant, slip-resistant shoes. I purchased:

Rugged Exposure slip-resistant shoes Retail: $49.99 (bought on sale price for $19.99) Model on box: Journey Plus Wide Size: 8.5 Women’s SKU: 3915923 Bar code: 2202800821

It’s my first time purchasing this brand and bought it because it was on sale and thought they were more durable than [REDACTED] brand which I usually buy but they had run out of stock in my size.It was my second time wearing the shoes when I got injured at work. These shoes stated on the box “slip-resistant” and under the shoes “oil-resistant” and “slip-resistant” but when walking on wet surfaces, which I do often at work, they fail to function as stated. I nearly fell into the lower bay opening from the upper bay floor. I didn’t think my shoes could have been the cause of my incident until recently when I had to close shop and mop the enter shop floor. The floor wasn’t at all very oily and still almost slipped when the surface was wet. I had no grip while walking. I had no problems from shoes like [REDACTED] brand or [REDACTED] like that before. I would not recommend these shoes to anyone even for the sales price if they don’t do the job. It’s unfortunate because the shoe fit was okay but I think the outer sole is the problem. It seemed like good quality rubber of some sort but it’s not like the other slip-resistant shoes that actually work. Thanks very much for reading this report.
