The product, in the report: LA Gear Tone-up shoes, white with pink trim
I purchased the LA Gear Tone-up walking shoe and have had three incidents where I have fallen. ***The first was shortly after I began wearing the shoe resulting in a cracked bone on the outside of my right foot and a tendon injury to the inside of the same foot. That was October 7, 2011 at a friend’s house. I went to the ER with a follow-up with my primary care physician. After over four weeks, my foot was not better and I saw a podiatrist who put me in a boot. I wore that for over six weeks, but still have considerable pain.
The second fall was shortly after Thanksgiving and did not result in an injury.
The third fall occurred on February 16, 2012, on stairs resulting in a badly sprained left foot and an extremely painful tailbone injury. The only time I am not in terrible pain is when I am standing; however, the act of rising is excruciating. Simple activities such as lowering myself into a seated position, sitting, rising from sitting, lying down, and going to the bathroom are painful. As there is only space for one date, I am filling out the form for the last incident. I am; however, going to complete this for each accident I’ve had.
The three accidents were due to my foot rolling the the side rather than the heel to toe motion. At first it didn’t occur to me that the shoe could be the problem until after the third accident. The only common denominator in each accident was that shoe. I also wear boots with stacked heels, regular tennis shoes, high heel shoes, and pumps and have never fallen while wearing any of these shoes. I’ve walked on all different kinds of surfaces including, cement, cobblestones, wet ground, uneven ground and gone up and down stairs while wearing these other types of shoes without incident.
****I have x-rays from the Memorial Health University Medical Center and Southcoast Medical Center, both of which are located in Savannah, Georgia. I have prescriptions for pain medication from both locations. Currently I am in a lot of pain due to the two falls (October 2011 and February 2012). These shoes are dangerous and should be taken off the market until they are safe to wear.
