The product, in the report: Running shoes
The sole of the edge of a Brooks running show came away at the midsection. This part of the shoe is very stiff because it is designed for hard use. This resulted in almost hitting a child while in a motor vehicle because the shoe became wedged at the side of brake pedal. When sliding my foot across from the accelerator pedal this flap gripped the edge of the brake pedal and prevented my foot from moving across, and then wedged my foot.
I had to quickly work out what was happening- rip my foot loose back away from the brake pedal, and then place it back on the brake pedal. It was the least to say – very scary for me and all those involved. It is clear that Brooks running has no interest whatsoever in the safety of its products, and that its shoes are unfit for safe use in a number of situations by design. This includes motoring. Brooks running doesn’t care. Russell brands LLC is obstructing all communication about the demonstrable negligence of Brooks running. Both companies are bad corporate citizens and display no practical ethical concerns –whatever they publish – as proved by their refusal to handle my serious complaint in any sort of reasonable manner for many months.
The fault was first reported to Brooks distributor in January 2011. They did nothing. Brooks distributor refused to inspect them in my home state and demanded that I pay to return them across the continent to the retailer that I purchased them from them, who would them send on to Brooks Distributor for inspection. This process would take 4 – 6 weeks.
Brooks distributor was completely disinterested in the seriousness of the fault, and the motor accident that nearly ensured. Some 6 months later Brooks corporate headquarters also remains indifferent to this serious production flaw. They declined at length to recognise my reports of the fault, have failed to offer any apologies or to compensate me in any way.
Threats of legal action have only produced an offer to just replace the defective footwear. Brooks parent company - Russell brands llc –does not offer the consumer any working email address to complain to about the degenerate unethical corporate behaviour of Brooks Running.
You may be interested in this email extract from Brooks about the suspected fault finally received yesterday. This is the sum total of Brooks investigation after 6 months. Customer care it isn’t. 1. ‘Delamination is when the outsole rubber and midsole foam separate. The causes could be faulty cement, or cementing process, exposure to excessive heat, or improper product use such as people that use running shoes for cycling. It is difficult to tell what the cause is from the photo. We like to get the shoes back to review them and also try to figure out how to make future Beast development even better. It’s the #1 shoe in the motion control category so there are a lot people out there expecting excellence. ‘ Brooks senior executive
One can only wonder how many serious motor accidents have been caused by the shoddy manufacturing of Brooks running products – dead people can’t talk though.
