  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Mar 22, 2015, sent to the company Mar 30, 2015, published by CPSC May 7, 2015

The product, in the report: violet wand http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violet_wand

The seller, Violet Wanda, aka. The Violet Wand Guild, aka Electricent, has a website on which they advertise an electronic device they claim they design and build. The claimed purpose of this electronic device is a BDSM adult sextoy, supposedly DESIGNED for insertion in the human body. Example of devices: http://buy.violetwands.net/view.php?v=violet-wands; http://www.violetwanda.net . (Proof of claim that it is adverticed and sold specifically for insertion in the human body can be found: http://buy.violetwands.net/view.php?v=violetwand-electrodes; http://www.violetwanda.net).

Upon receiving the device, we tried it and before we even managed to use it, we got electrocuted through the control dial intended to turn the device on and off with. At this point we contacted the seller and asked for a refund, which they refused, claiming that federal law prohibits returns on sex toys. The seller also indicated that it is normal to be able to be electrocuted by operating the on and off control dial, and that one merely needs to be careful to not make contact with the metal part of the control dial when turning the device on and off.

When complaining about the whole affair to a friend of ours, they said that they’ve been conned by the same seller, and that the device in question, which she’s selling as a BDSM sex toy, is in reality a piece of industrial grade testing equipment, and that she’s merely rebranding and reselling them. That they are not designed for use on humans, not safe for use on humans, and that the actual manufacturer warns against such use. (Original manufacturer: http://www.electrotechnicproducts.com/bd-10/?sort=bestselling)

When contacting the seller to verify their claims they: deny that they only resell the device, and claim they build and design it refuse to give data on the technical specs of the device, including refusing to list it’s output in amperage refuse to confirm that it has been tested to be safe for human use claim that it’s normal (and safe) that one could be electrocuted merely by turning on the device claim that by virtue of the fact that she’s been selling these for years, and people have been using them for years, they are proven safe

At that point we dug deeper, and it turns out that this seller, Violet Wanda, has been defrauding people into buying this piece of industrial testing equipment as a sex toy for years, and that numerous people have gotten injured by using it (sustained burns, arrhythmia, muscle spasms causing tears).

We have long since recovered our money via a charge back with our credit card company. But considering that she’s continuing to put people in danger, and defraud them by selling them an industrial vacuum leak detector as an electrical BDSM toy intended for use on humans, we felt the need to contact you and make a complaint.
