Hurt, no treatment Made Sep 17, 2026, sent to the company Sep 22, 2026, published by CPSC Oct 6, 2026
The product, in the report: Mountrax Foot Massager Model: FM-002 Rated Voltage: 12V 2.5A Rated Power: 30W The massager is black.
The incident occurred on 09/17/2026 while using the machine. I selected the medium then high compression setting. Once the compression engaged, the machine would not release my feet. I attempted to lower the compression setting, but nothing happened. I also attempted to stop the machine, but it continued to hold my feet. I then unplugged the machine, expecting the compression to release, but my feet remained trapped. While my feet were continuously compressed, I became extremely frightened and called for my children to come help me. I was trapped in the machine for approximately nine minutes. My children and I ultimately had to tear the material of the machine and puncture the large internal air bladder with a knife in order to release the pressure and free my feet. I was prepared to call 911 if we could not get my feet released. After I was finally freed, both of my feet were very red and all of my toes were affected by the compression. I had to apply ice to my feet for a period of 20 minutes before I was able to walk normally. I am extremely concerned about what happened. A compression device should have a reliable way to immediately release pressure in an emergency. In this case, the controls did not release my feet, and even unplugging the machine did not release the compression. I was only able to escape after the device was physically damaged. We even tried using the remote control, but we were unsuccessful. This was not simply a malfunction or inconvenience. I was physically trapped inside the product and sustained physical effects from the prolonged compression. I am very concerned about the possibility of this happening to another customer, particularly an elderly person or someone who may be unable to get help quickly. I have preserved the machine and the damaged components. I am also documenting the condition of my feet following the incident.
