The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Dec 3, 2025, sent to the company Dec 8, 2025, published by CPSC Dec 22, 2025

The product, in the report: Brookstone Deep Tissue Massage Gun, Model RS1004, purchased from TJ Maxx in Nov/Dec 2022.

The Brookstone Deep Tissue Massage Gun, Model RS1004, overheated and caught fire in my home last night. My 15 year old son was using the device on his neck per manufacturers instructions on the lowest setting and set it aside to charge. It had not been used in about 3 months prior to last night. As it was charging, the battery “popped” and immedately started smoking and a small fire started from the sparks. I was able to immediately disconnect the charger from the wall, smother the sparks and fire and remove the device to outside the home.

There were no injuries as a result. However there is smoke and burn damage to his room.

The product, in the report: Body massager

The cord was plugged in since the device needs to be connected to work. The product turns off by itself once it’s done with the massage cycle. However, the consumer says that he hadn’t used it that day, so he had it on his bed. Then he saw that it sparked, so he grabbed it and put it on a table. The consumer says that he got scared because if he had been sleeping or not home, it may have caused a fire. Consumer tried contacting the manufacturer, but the number is not working.
