Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Oct 28, 2013, sent to the company Nov 18, 2013, published by CPSC Dec 3, 2013

The product, in the report: black plastic hairdryer, purple removable lint cover, ionic on/off switch on top, hot/warm/cold switch and high/low/off switches on handle, black electric cord attached at base of handle (this is where the damage occurred)

i was using the hairdryer as i normally do, and suddenly there were sparks, flashing, very loud pops (like firecrackers), black smoke and bits of plastic shooting from the dryer. I screamed and threw the dryer onto the floor where it continued to do this. I pulled the plug from the wall and it continued to smoke and sizzle. When it stopped i looked at it saw the cord had literally fried thru to where it was hanging onto the base of the dryer by only a few copper threads. The reset/safety button never tripped on the plug. it did not blow the fuse in the house. i burned my hair and i had to cut pieces of molten plastic out of my hair.
