The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Feb 19, 2017, sent to the company Mar 17, 2017, published by CPSC Mar 31, 2017

The product, in the report: Sunbeam 1635 folding hair dryer sold to hotels. White.

The hair dryer sucks in hair through the vent holes in the back. It ripped some out of my scalp and the rest was caught in the fan inside the machine. Had to cut chunks of my hair out.

The product, in the report: White folding handle hand held hairdryer. It says “Sunbeam 1875” in red letters on the side. Molded into the handle, by the UL information it reads “Sunbeam Appliances” “Model SBPC33 MADE IN CHINA”

While using the dryer there was a loud pop and electronic “fireball” that came from the handle. The unit then, of course, quit working and the handle is slightly scorched right where it folds. The switch will not physically move now.
