The product, in the report: Off white with gray accents electric hair dryer with an approximately ten foot cord with safety device at receptacle end of cord. External material is primarily hard plastic. Has a removable, gray “concentrator” that fits on the output end of the device. Additionally, there is a removable lint screen on the input end of the device, also gray plastic with a metal screen suspended within the ring. Sold exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply, current version of device available at http://www.sallybeauty.com/hair-dryer/JLBERE30,default,pd.html

My wife was drying her hair after showering with the Jilbère de Paris (produced by Conair, sold by Sally Beauty Supply) Porcelain Hair Dryer (called Jilbere Porcelain Series Hair Dryer at Sally Beauty) and after a few minutes of use the rubber/plastic insulation on one half of the cord began to catch fire. Our toddler age daughter was sitting next to my wife at the time of the incident. It caused no personal injury, nor any property damage beyond the unit itself. This continued until the unit was shut off by flipping the power switch on the unit. Upon unplugging from the wall, an inspection revealed that one half of the power cord had frayed causing the insulation to burn. This area of damage was just below the point where the cord entered the base of the handle of the hairdryer. The unit was immediately removed from use and a replacement unit purchased.
