The product, in the report: Gold-n-Hot, Full Hood 1200 watt professional dryer Model #GH9271

A consumer placed the full hood professional hair dryer on a sofa for use. The product was turned on and left unattended for a period of time. Heat from the product caused the sofa to ingite. Fire damaged the sofa and room of origin.

I purchased an exemplar of the product for my fire investigation. The instruction manual clearly warns to never leave the dryer unattended and never to use on a bed or couch because the vents can be blocked.

The consumer was not injured. The product was destroyed in the fire.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue case #[REDACTED].
