No one hurt Made Jan 11, 2016, sent to the company Feb 11, 2016, published by CPSC Feb 26, 2016
The product, in the report: Hair Dyer
01/08/2016 - The consumer indicates that she was drying her hair for approximately three to five minutes when all of a sudden sparks and smoke were shot out of the back of it and the hair dryer then shut off. When the consumer unplugged the hair dryer, smoke was still coming out though less. The consumer noticed that there was metal and plastic shards embedded on the bathroom’s tile floor, as well as on the bathroom window that is located two to three feet from where the consumer was standing.
The consumer is unable to remove the shards off her tiles, and the window is permanently etched.
The consumer indicates that she uses her hair dryer daily for approximately ten minutes.
The consumer contacted the manufacturer and explained the situation. The representative she spoke to ([REDACTED]) advised the consumer to get the invoice, and package and ship the hair dryer to them so they can replace it so long as they determine that it was a defective product.
01/09/2016 - The consumer indicates that she returned the product to the retailer, as well as informed the manager of what had happened. Shocked, the manager asked the consumer if she would like to receive a replacement or a credit; the consumer replaced the hair dryer for one manufactured by a different firm.
The consumer contacted the manufacturer and informed them that she returned the product.

The product, in the report: I HAVE HEARD STORIES FROM FELLOW STYLISTS OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING! THIS IS A TOP OF THE LINE, EXPENSIVE DRYER THAT WORKS VERY VERY WELL. BUT BECAUSE THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME HEARING ABOUT THIS I AM HESITANT TO SEND IT IN WITH A CHECK OF $35 TO HAVE IT FIXED OR REPLACE. UPC:874822004290
As I was drying my clients hair, my dryer sparked very loud and caught on fire!! My client freaked out, and we are bother VERY lucky we did not get hurt. it was so scary.
