Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Sep 5, 2023, sent to the company Jan 18, 2024, published by CPSC Feb 1, 2024
The product, in the report: Primo Water/ Sierra Springs hot and cold water dispenser.
Hello, I’m writing in hopes of getting assistance in what we need to do to make sure our concerns are appropriately resolved and most importantly the health and safety of other consumers with this product. L
We have subscribed to Primo Water/ Sierra Springs service plan for a monthly fee that includes rental of their water dispenser and delivery of jugs of water every month. Our Primo Water/ Sierra Springs water cooler began leaking in the upper part of the unit the other day in addition to my wife noticing small white particles in the hot water when dispensed. Over the past year of being subscribed to the program my family has been noticing a plastic like taste in the water occasionally, but Primo Water/ Sierra Springs assured us it was normal and likely form the new jugs delivered. When I opened the cover to expose the area where the steam valve cover/ base are, I noticed the steam valve base with part number PLC-C150090 was full of water and leaking. After further inspection of the valve cover, the white plastic valve cover associated with the steam function was disintegrating and had completely eroded from the hinge it should have been attached too, likely causing the leak and a significant portion of the white valve cover had completely disintegrated, being dispensed in to hot drinking water from the jugs Primo Water/ Sierra Springs delivers. Based on the amount of disintegration, it’s obvious the valve cover has been falling apart for what appears to be a long time and likely since we’ve had product for the past year. My wife drinks hot tea every evening and she had been having shooting pain in her bladder and gut issues since we subscribed to Primo Water/ Sierra Springs program since May of 2022. During the past year she was so concerned about the consistent shooting pain in her bladder and gut issues that developed. My wife made a doctors appointment because she thought she had a bladder infection. The doctor ordered a full blood panel and lab work to pin point issue. The test results indicated gut inflammation and labs came back negative for a bladder infection. Her physician wasn’t sure why she was experiencing the bladder issues and provided no resolution to her health issues. For the past year my wife has been very concerned as to why this was happening with no answers and no clue what could be causing the health issues. The pain has altered her diet and caused a huge amount of stress for our family and significantly effected her day to day functions. Now knowing she’s been consuming particles of plastic for the past year in her hot water, she is confident that this is the cause of her health issues. And now that the part has completely disintegrated from the hinge, the plastic pieces have become larger and visible, we can confirm the reason the plastic taste over the past year and likely cause of her health issues.
We are very concerned about the amount of plastic my family has been poisoned with and other consumers who are also at risk. After reaching out to Primo Water/ Sierra Springs they assured us we would get a replacement water dispenser, but they wouldn’t provide any resolution to why this has occurred and our health concerns.
My wife is terrified that consuming this much plastic could cause cancers and she has schedule a doctors appointment to get evaluated and hope to get some resolution to her health issues now that we know what she’s been drinking every day.
We hope with your advise and assistance, the manufacturer of this product will resolve this health and safety concern regarding their water dispenser and so other consumers can be aware of this problem so they can avoid possible heath and safety concerns.

First aid Made Feb 2, 2023, sent to the company Feb 6, 2023, published by CPSC Feb 21, 2023
The product, in the report: Primo Hot/Cold Water Dispenser, Model# 601292
I have a Primo Hot/Cold water dispenser, model# 601292 (Date of Manufacture 10/19). When dispensing hot water, the dispensing lever sometimes fails to release, overfilling the cup or container. Pushing the safety button and then pressing a cup or container against the dispensing lever seems to work fine to BEGIN dispensing hot water, but the lever does not reliably retract after the cup or container is removed, failing to stop the flow of hot water. I have sustained minor burns to my hand due to the overflowing hot water. This has happened on 3-4 occasions, most recently today. I contacted Primo Customer Service, but they were unhelpful and seemed unconcerned for my “inconvenience.” It is equipped with a 2-step process for dispensing hot water for safety reasons; if the hot water does not stop flowing when the lever is released, it is a safety issue--not just a mere “inconvenience.”

No one hurt Made May 4, 2021, sent to the company May 25, 2021, published by CPSC Jun 9, 2021
The product, in the report: MANUAL WATER DISPENSER https://store.primowater.com/collections/portable/products/manual-water-dispenser
We have been regular consumers of PRIMO MANUAL WATER DISPENSER for 5 gallon water bottles. These dispensers are affixed to the top of 5 gallon water bottles and manually pumped to dispense water. My wife had used the dispenser to pump some water into her water bottle today. While drinking the water, she swallowed a small piece of plastic. She looked into her water bottle and saw several other pieces of blue plastic floating in it. We examined our PRIMO MANUAL WATER DISPENSER and discovered that several small blue plastic tabs were missing from the inner rim. My wife does not believe that the plastic piece injured her, but we are both concerned about the potential for injury or choking that could be posed to someone, particularly if a small child were to consume the piece of plastic. I have attached 3 pictures of the pump - on one picture I have circled the broken area in red.

The product, in the report: Water cooler
Caller is reporting that his water cooler heating element overheated which caused damages to his flooring. He stated that the incident caused the water to dissipate in the unit and the heat burnt the floor. He contacted the store and reported it. He also tried to file a claim with his insurance company, however, they informed him that the manufacturer informed them that the product was tested after it was returned and there was no failure, therefore the claim was denied.
Caller stated that the water cooler is a fire hazard and should be reported.
