The product, in the report: heater for a fish tank

The heater was placed in 55 gallon tank, 2 years ago. She noticed that the fish began swimming erratically. The temperature the heater was placed on was 78 degrees but the temperature in the tank went up to 92 degrees with the heater set at 78. A seperate thermometer is kept in the aquarium.

She touched the side of the tank and it was hot to the touch. She noticed that twenty two of the fish had died. She unplugged the heter to allow it to cool off before removing the fish. She removed the heater from the tank and throws it out in the garbage. It was then replaced with another model from the same firm.

She contacted the retailer and they advised her that they were aware of other consumers experiencing the same failure with the tank. A few days later she noticed there was a recall online (Release #11-202). The heater I which she was currently using was also affected by the recall. The firm is going to send out the repair kit but she has also disconintued using the heater.
