The product, in the report: Tetra/1.8 gallon Waterfall Globe (fish tank)

On November 20th, I purchased the Tetra Waterfall Globe 1.8 Gallon Kit at Petco, for my 7-year old son. My wife was cleaning the bowl for set-up and barely nicked the edge of the sink. The glass cracked and splintered into pieces. I was shocked to see that the thickness of the glass was less than a potato chip! My wife sustained a small cut, but it could have easily been worse. I can’t believe that we paid over $60.00 for this hazardous merchandise! I have purchased many other fishbowls from various stores before that were at least 5x the thickness! I’m sure that glass is not that expensive and they could offer a safer product. Acrylic would be a better option since many of these units would be purchased for small children. This product is a danger to anyone that has purchased it. I was not about to return the pieces of glass to the store, but expected a response. I contacted Tetra’s website first and they claimed that they would respond within 24 hours. They did not bother to repond at all! Petco has offered a replacement, but I believe this to be unacceptable due to its unsafe characteristics.
