No one hurt Made May 19, 2012, sent to the company May 29, 2012, published by CPSC Jun 12, 2012
The product, in the report: Aquarium Water Heater
My 10 year old reef tank aquarium suffered a total loss of all life stock in a 3 hr period last Tuesday, sometimes between Noon and 5pm. Water quality checked fine and due to the sudden onset electric is suspected. Pumps and filters checked out fine but the moment the cord to the submerged heater was moved, the power strip suffered a catastrophic failure. Upon inspection the Steatlth ETP150 water heater showed signs of overheating, blisters in the outer casing, some of which cracked and an almost completely burned through power cord.

The product, in the report: Under water aquarium heater.
I have a Marineland Stealth Aquarium heater, Model # 90450-00 which apparently broke. Was changing water in aquarium when I received an electrical shock through the water. All fish went belly-up. I unplugged the heater and called Aquarium store where purchased. Apparently there was a recall on all these heaters, which were listed as dangerous. I went to Marineland’s website and got an 800 phone number to get a replacement or refund. No one answers their phone.

The product, in the report: Stealth Pro 300w aquarium heater model# ML90454
After about one year my super expensive, “high quality”, “fail safe” Stealth Pro 300w aquarium heater just turned on in the middle of the night and did not turn off. By the time I went to feed my $500 special breeder fish the next morning the water was 120F and I had very expensive fish soup!

No one hurt Made May 16, 2011, published by CPSC Jun 8, 2011
The product, in the report: Black Stealth Pro aquarium heater (250 watt, model ML90453)
Returned home from a 4 day vacation to an overwhelming smell that something had burnt (burning/chemical smell). Upon searching, I found that the Stealth Pro fish tank heater (model ML90453 - 250watt) in my 90 gallon tank had apparently exploded and several of my very expensive cichlids were dead. There was debris all over the tank (black plastic and black unknown substance). I was VERY FORTUNATE that the tank didn’t break or the explosion didn’t result in a fire. I’m not sure exactly when this occurred but from the look of my dead fish, it happened within a day or two prior to my returning home.
