The product, in the report: It is a reef light designed for salt water fish tanks
On 7/21/26, the power cord/plug for this NICREW HyperReef 150 Gen 2 aquarium light caught fire behind our saltwater fish tank. The plug and a section of the cord melted and charred significantly (photos attached). The fire was caught early by a family member and extinguished before it spread. A nearby Seachem Tidal 75 filters power plug was also damaged/melted, suggesting the heat/fire affected multiple devices in the area. No injuries occurred. The outlet and wall plate itself were not damaged, suggesting the fault originated in the cord/plug assembly rather than the household wiring at that location.
