What’s wrong with it?
BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE CAN CAUSE THE LOSS OF BRAKING CAPABILITY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: LUGGAGE RACKS FOR USE ON BMW MOTORCYCLES.
WHEN INSTALLING THE LUGGAGE RACK, THE CHARCOAL CANNISTER IS SLIGHTLY MOVED.
WHEN THE MOTORCYCLE’S SUSPENSION IS FULLY COMPRESSED, THIS CANNISTER CONTACTS THE BRAKE LINE FITTING AT THE REAR BRAKE CALIPER, LOOSENING THE BRAKE FITTING.
THIS CAUSES A LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
