What’s wrong with it?
THE VENT CAPS CAN EVENTUALLY SEPARATE FROM THE BATTERY,AND THE BROKEN SEAL CAN RESULT IN LEAKAGE OF HYDROGEN GAS INTO THE ENGINECOMPARTMENT, WHICH CAN CAUSE AN EXPLOSION.
THE SEAL ON THE VENT CAPS OF THESE BATTERIES CAN BE BROKEN DUE TO A CRACK AT OR ABOVE THE SCREW IN THREAD.
THE CRACK IS CAUSED BY USE OF AN INCORRECT MATERIAL IN THE PRODUCTION OF THE VENT CAPS.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
