What’s wrong with it?
WHEN THE CRACKS BECOME SEVERE, THE JOURNAL TUBE ANDSUPPORTING GUSSET CAN PULL THROUGH THE FRAME MOUNTING PLATE, ALLOWING THETAG AXLE TO ROLL OUT FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE.
THE LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT TAG HANGER ASSEMBLY CAN DEVELOP A METAL FATIGUE PROBLEM WHERE THE JOURNAL TUBE IS WELDED TO THE FRAME MOUNTING PLATE.
CRACKS THROUGH THE FRAME MOUNTING PLATE MAY BEGIN AROUND THE JOURNAL TUBE AND PROPAGATE UP THE SUPPORTING GUSSET.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
