What’s wrong with it?
The notice gives no hazard in a field of its own.
THE DETROIT DIESEL ALLISON ENGINES 6V-92 AND 8V-92 WERE EQUIPPED WITH FAST IDLE AIR CYLINDERS, WHICH WERE IMPROPERLY ASSEMBLED.
CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: THE IMPROPERLY ASSEMBLED UNITS COULD CAUSE THE FAST IDLE AIR CYLINDER ASSEMBLY TO BEND OR BREAK.
THIS WOULD CAUSE ERRATIC ENGINE SPEED OR INABILITY TO SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
