What’s wrong with it?
The notice gives no hazard in a field of its own.
CERTAIN WIND CONDITIONS CAN CAUSE A DOWN DRAFT AND CREATE A SLIGHT POSITIVE PRESSURE AT THE WATER HEATER FLUE GAS OUTLET.
THIS MAY CAUSE A FLAME REVERSAL TO OCCUR FROM THE BURNER TUBE IN THE COMPARTMENT BETWEEN THE WATER HEATER AND THE COMBUSTION PAN.
CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: THE FLAMES THAT OCCUR DURING FLAME REVERSAL MAY CAUSE DETERIORATION OF THE GASKET SURROUNDING THE PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE RELEF VALVE.
THIS ALLOWS THE FLAMES TO CONTACT THE FIBERBOARD JACKET AROUND THE WATER STORAGE TANK.
IF THIS OCCURS A SMOLDERING FIRE MAY RESULT AND CREATE A RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND ITS OCCUPANTS.

- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
