What’s wrong with it?
The notice gives no hazard in a field of its own.
THE CATALOG OF THE AFTERMARKET SUPPLIER, PUBLISHED IN OCTOBER 1982, USES A SINGLE PART NUMBER FOR MASTER CYLINDER NUMBERS 61-1244 AND 61-1181.
THIS COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE MISAPPLICATION OF THE PART, LEADING TO A FAILURE OF THE HOOD TO FULLY CLOSE OR TO AN INCORRECT CYLINDER STROKE CAUSING CONTINUOUS APPLICATION OF THE FRONT BRAKES.
THERE IS ALSO A POSSIBILITY THAT IF THE PRIMARY BRAKES FAIL, THE STROKE IN THE MASTER CYLINDER MAY BE INADEQUATE TO OPERATE THE SECONDARY BRAKES.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
