The short answer

NHTSA received CHRYSLER CORPORATION’s report on Jun 11, 1980. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 28, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

The notice gives no hazard in a field of its own.

DUE TO A COMBINATION OF DISC BRAKE PAD WEAR AND TURN STOP WEAR ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THERE MAY BE AN INCREASE IN BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL AND A REDUCTION IN FRONT BRAKING EFFECTIVENESS FOLLOWING A FULL TURN.

ALSO, A FRAME CRACK COULD DEVELOP AND COULD EXTEND THROUGH ALL OR MOST OF THE RAIL SECTION.

What should you do?

UPON INSPECTION DEALER WILL REPLACE EITHER THE LEFT OR RIGHT TURN STOP BRACKET TO CORRECT THE FRONT BRAKES. IF FRAME IS CRACKED IT WILL BE WELDED AND A ROD REINFORCEMENT WILL BE INSTALLED OVER THE CRACKED AREA.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
