What’s wrong with it?
A person, especially a child, may become trapped by a rear powered seat, increasing the risk of injury.
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2026 Ioniq 9 vehicles equipped with a Limited, Calligraphy, or Calligraphy Design trim package.
The second-row power seats may fail to detect a person.
As a result, the seats may continue to move after contacting a person during powered seat functions, such as automatic power fold-and-stow.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
