The short answer

NHTSA received Cummins, Inc.’s report on Oct 28, 2026. Copied from NHTSA on Nov 5, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A driveline separation can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Detached components can become a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

Cummins, Inc.

(Cummins) is recalling certain Meritor drivelines with model numbers RPL20, RPL25, RPL10, RPL35, RPL14, and 176MXL.

The drivelines may be missing a snap ring in the slip yoke assembly, causing the bearing cup to separate from the driveline.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
