What’s wrong with it?

Loss of steering control increases the risk of a crash or injury.

KTM North American, Inc.

(KTM) is recalling certain Müller Präzision steering dampers (part number 16181T01E) sold as accessory parts for certain 2020-2026 KTM Super Duke R and Super Duke Evo motorcycles.

The steering damper can loosen from the mounting adapter, which can lead to a loss of steering control.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
