What’s wrong with it?
Inadequate rear lighting can reduce vehicle visibility or fail to alert other drivers when the vehicle is braking, turning, or reversing, increasing the risk of a crash.
Jerr-Dan Corporation (Jerr-Dan) is recalling certain XLP Carrier kits.
The reverse and brake light assemblies may have been installed in the wrong location with the incorrect color or number of lights.
As such, the carriers fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
