The short answer

NHTSA received Dorman Products, Inc.’s report on Apr 29, 2026. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

The inability to shift into “Park” can result in a vehicle rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dorman Products, Inc.

(Dorman) is recalling certain Dorman Transmission Gearshift Cables, with part numbers 905-146, 905-644, 905-142, and Solutions Transmission Gearshift Cables with part numbers BK905-1146-1, and BK905-1142-1.

The gearshift cable bushing may detach from the linkage, which can prevent the vehicle from shifting into gear properly, including “Park” position.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 102, “Transmission shift position sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect,” and FMVSS number 114, “Theft Protection.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
