The short answer

NHTSA received Lippert’s report on Jan 16, 2026. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 21, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A missing DOT code mark may result in the window being replaced with an incorrect type of glass, increasing the risk of a injury.

Lippert is recalling certain bus windows.

Please see the recall report for the full list of affected part numbers.

The windows may have illegible DOT markings.

As such these windows fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 205, “Glazing Materials.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
