The short answer

NHTSA received Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC’s report on Dec 1, 2025. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Insufficient pedestrian warning sounds may fail to alert pedestrians of an approaching vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2024-2025 AMG EQE SUV 4MATIC vehicles.

The external pedestrian warning sound may not continuously increase in volume as vehicle speed increases, due to a software error.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 141, “Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid Electric Vehicles.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
