What’s wrong with it?
Tread separation may increase the risk of a crash.
Bridgestone Americas Tire Operation (BATO) is recalling certain Firestone Destination LE3 tires, size 265/70R17.
The belt edge insert (BEI) may be out of position, decreasing tire durability and causing tread separation.
As such, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 139, “New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which tires, by their DOT codes: the range is in the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site, not in this file. Check the code on your tire’s sidewall against it.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
