What’s wrong with it?
Tires that are missing a DOT symbol may be used in inappropriate applications, increasing the risk of a crash.
Centropneus SRL (Centropneus) is recalling certain Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires, size 255/60R18 112V XL.
The DOT certification symbol is missing from the tire sidewalls.
As such, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 139, “New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which tires, by their DOT codes: the range is in the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site, not in this file. Check the code on your tire’s sidewall against it.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
